Amazing Vacations In Southport, Merseyside

The United Kingdom of Great Britain is  an excellent  destination for a vacation. The reasons for this include a rich and romantic history and a stunning countryside. The kinds of vacations available  is stunning  with such a huge choice of vacation destinations  each  feature incredibly different  opportunities  and scenery  which range from areas with numerous mountains  to incredibly flat areas.  Below I take a look at the coastline  and suggest  the seaside resort of Southport, in the English north west, as the finest  seaside vacation destination in the British Isles.

Located on the shores of the English North West, Southport places to visit include, Southport Pier, Lord Street, Hesketh Park, the Botanic Gardens at Churchtown, Botanic Gardens Museum, Churchtown village, Wayfarers’ Arcade and more.

Southport’s Lord Street

Lord Street is Southport’s main shopping street.  All the way down one side of Lord Street the wide pavement are covered by ornate Victorian iron work together with a line of lush green trees closer to the road. Over on the other side of the street you will discover  hugely colourful flower gardens and small gardens, pools and fountains and a superb Victorian bandstand. Right in the heart of Lord Street is most probably the most grand war monuments in the land with an obelisk in the middle and two further memorials on each side which have large columns. Some of the finest of Southport’s architecture is to be found along Lord Street and it is where you will find Wayfarers’ Arcade, a covered shopping area.

Parks & Gardens

Hesketh Park

At the end of Lord Street you will find Hesketh Park. Hesketh Park is named after the Hesketh family and, in a similar fashion to Lord Street, it is heavily wooded. Hesketh Park also has wonderful flower beds, hidden gardens, a play park, glass house and more but most prominent is the lovely lake.

Churchtown’s Botanic Gardens

You will find another wonderful park, the Botanic Gardens in Chruchtown which has a lake laid out like a river which has boats for hire, an ornate bridge, ducks, swans and other wildlife plus if you enjoy birds and animals the gardens also has a very small zoo, just in front of the cafe and museum. Churchtown village is a picturesque collection of old fishermen’s cottages, cottages and houses the majority of which are white and some of them have a roof of thatch. It is crucial that you explore on foot and that you are not afraid to look down alleys take a peep around every corner there are one or two hidden areas well worth the work to discover.

Hotels and Accommodation

Finding Southport bed & breakfast is relatively easy with a large number of hotels and guest houses  taking online bookings.
