Often times we feel like sharing encouraging words to someone who is hurting is useless. In most cases when youtry and use humor such as funny encouraging words to lighten up the mood that particular person may decide not to take into consideration a word of what you are trying to communicate.
Irrespective of the reaction, every hurting person needs to to be exposed positive words. Sharing such words is more like putting a seed into the soil. It can take sometime before you see the full results of your hard labour.
Similarly when sharing words of encouragement, never stop simply because you are not getting the reaction you expect. Keep sharing your Christian best words depending on the religious inclination of the person you are trying to help and don’t dare give up.
It may be that the person who is hurting is still fresh from the ordeal and needs time to digest everything. You just need to understand that and be patient. Do not try and set a time table for the person to get over what ever it is he or she is grieving for – depending on the extent of the pain or disappointment.
I had a friend who lost a loved one once and it took more than two years to start talking about her without crying. It turned out everything we kept saying to him over the years – in terms of encouragement, helped him to heal eventually. Truth is, I had started to give up on him and when he told me how I had helped I was really pleased.
So if ever you feel confused and exhausted of writing and sampling some free encouragement letters you can use remember that they are helping her or hime to live through each passing day. Pledge this day to keep at it until you know for a fact that the grieving person is over what ever distress and heart ache – this will make you feel like a true angel and it will bring a positive feeling to you too.
